UK Student Visa to Skilled Worker Visa: Requirements & How to Switch
October 8, 2026
International students in the UK can switch from a Student visa to a Skilled Worker visa if they meet the eligibility rules, have an eligible sponsored job, and satisfy the salary and English language requirements.
Students who are not ready to switch directly may use the Graduate route first, then move from a graduate visa to skilled worker visa when they secure suitable sponsorship.
From 2026, applicants need to pay close attention to the higher English requirement, occupation skill level, salary rules, Certificate of Sponsorship, and the specific conditions that apply to new entrants.
