About the University
Queen Mary University of London was built on four historic institutions which predate to 1785. The Bartholomew’s Hospital Medical College, London Hospital Medical College, Westfield College and Queen Mary College were the founding forefathers of the present day Queen Mary University of London. All these four founding institutes shared the same vision of improving lives of the underprivileged.
The current name of the institute came into use in 2000, changing its name from ‘Queen Mary and Westfield College’ to ‘Queen Mary University of London’. In 2012 Queen Mary became a part of the prestigious Russell Group. The Russell group is a reputable association of 24 leading research-intensive universities in the UK. This prestigious group was founded in 1994 and it includes institutes renowned and well established for their research outcomes, academic excellence and global contributions to global problems.
