Leeds Beckett University was initially founded as the Leeds Mechanics Institute in the year 1824 and later became Leeds Institute of Science, Art and Literature in the year 1927 before renaming itself Leeds College of Technology. In 1970, Leeds Polytechnic merged with Leeds College of Commerce (founded 1845), Leeds College of Art (1846) and Yorkshire College of Education and Home Economics (1874). After being established in 1907 as part of the City of Leeds Training College, James Graham College and City of Leeds College of Education joined Leeds Polytechnic in 1976. Much later, in the year 1987, the Leeds Polytechnic became part of the Northern Consortium.

This research focuses on one of the biggest side effects of treating cancer in Childbearing age women, The loss of fertility. This research helped them draft a handbook called “Cancer, Fertility & Me” which aims to help women going through the ordeal. Cancer, Fertility & Me, a patient decision aid, is now available free of charge to all female cancer patients through academic, clinical, and professional organisations.
Another interesting topic of research is Improving the Policing of cybercrime. This aims at increasing Evidence-based approach in the Policing of digital forensics and cybercrime investigations. A comprehensive needs assessment was conducted to understand the current situation and identify needs across UK policing and cybercrime. FAQ
If the student requires a visa to study in the UK, they will need to bring their passport including the visa granted to study in the UK. The student will also be required to pay 50% of their fees before they enrol.
Details about the Welcome Week events will be available on the student’s Online Welcome homepage once they have been finalised. Some courses have non-standard start dates and when this is the case, the student will be contacted by their school. The full induction details will be available on this service when they have accepted an unconditional offer.
If a student is not paying the fees on their own then they can upload a sponsorship letter in the fees section of Online Welcome if they have been provided with one. The student also has the option of entering the details manually.
The student can apply for accommodation after accepting a conditional or unconditional offer on a full-time course. It may take 24-48 hours for the system to update with the status, after which students are enabled to make their accommodation booking.
