About the University

The existence of the acclaimed De Montfort University (DMU) dates back to 1870 when it first came into existence as the Leicester School of Art. Afterwards, it transitioned through various iterations of Leicester Colleges of Art and Technology and Leicester Polytechnic. Finally, on 26 June 1992, the today-known DMU gained official recognition. 

Since then, the institution has only looked ahead and has walked hand in hand with the growth and development that the world has been going through. De Montfort University understands the importance of campus, thus they have continued to refurbish their amenities, adding millions to their long-standing buildings. One such building is their Hugh Aston Building – a space equipped with lecture theatres, break-out spaces, study zones and IT Labs.
