Understanding IELTS

The International English Language Testing System (IELTS) is an exam carried out by the British Council and Cambridge University Press. It is globally considered the top-most exam for evaluating proficiency in the English language and is the first precursor before you embark on your journey overseas. The test comprises sections that evaluate four basic skills which are Speaking, Listening, Writing, and Reading with a period of 2 hours 45 minutes. The result of the exam is measured on a band scale of 0-9 and almost all the universities accept applicants scoring above 6 bands. If you are or are above 16 years of age and have passed/appeared for the 12th class can apply for the IELTS exams to gain high proficiency in English. Try to reserve the date of your IELTS exam at least three months before the exam and avoid last-minute head-ups.
